How to Score Montana Millionaire Tickets Before They Sell Out
Set your alarm, Montana. The 2025 Montana Millionaire tickets go on sale Saturday, November 1, at 5:30 a.m., and if last year’s sellout is any clue, they’ll be gone faster than your tax refund. Even with an additional million-dollar prize this year, along with more lower-tier winners, tickets will surely be gone in a flash again this year.
The Montana Lottery says they expect another early-morning buying frenzy, so if you’re hoping to grab a golden ticket, it’s time to plan like your retirement depends on it (because, hey, in my case, it does).

Here are a few best practices straight from the Montana Lottery, and a few that just make good sense:
- PLAN AHEAD – Set the alarm. Bring coffee. Maybe stretch your thumbs. Tickets go on sale right at 5:30 a.m.
- BE KIND & PATIENT – It’s the busiest time of year for Montana Lottery clerks. Machines can only print so fast, and employees can only take so much. Throwing a tantrum in line doesn't help anything.
- BUY ONLY PRINTED TICKETS – Don’t accept a pre-printed ticket. Lottery rules say every ticket must be printed fresh at purchase. Pre-printing tickets (which reportedly occurred at several retailers last year) violates the Montana Lottery's licensing agreement with sales agents to print tickets in advance before a purchase is made.
- DON'T TRY MULTIPLE LOCATIONS – Every licensed Montana Lottery retailer sells Montana Millionaire tickets - bars, gas stations, grocery stores, you name it. If one’s retailer is out of tickets, they’re all out.
- CHECK FOR INSTANT WINNERS – Some tickets are instant cash winners. The machine will tell you right away.
- KEEP YOUR TICKETS SAFE – Put them somewhere you’ll remember. (A junk drawer is not a memory palace.)
If you missed out last year, now’s your shot. Just don’t snooze past 5:30 a.m. this Saturday... because when these tickets are gone, they’re really gone. Learn more at montanalottery.com
