Today is national "Retro Day" and it got me thinking about things I miss most about the past.  Favorite decade of my life was definitely the 80's and here are a few of the things I miss:

  • Plenty of fun gadgets, but nothing dominating my life (no cell phones, Facebook, etc.)
  • The MOVIES!  No, really.  I think 1985 had some of the greatest movies of all time: The Breakfast Club, The Goonies, Back to the Future, Weird Science, Real Genius, Silverado, Pale Rider, Better Off Dead, Commando, Clue, Rambo, Spies Like Us, St. Elmo's Fire, The Last Dragon, Teen Wolf, Fletch, European Vacation
  • TV - Honestly in the 80's I watched a lot of Nick at Nite, so in the 80's I was watching 60's stuff, but I still have a place in my heart for The Cosby Show, Growing Pains, Newhart, Misfits of Science, Tales from the Darkside, etc.
  • The Music -  I won't start another list here because it would be huge.  Plenty of Country, Pop, and what is these days considered classic rock, filled my Walkman headphones back in the day.

And of course the biggest thing...the thing that makes all of this stuff seem fun: A HUGE lack of responsibilities!  The 80's were ages 5-15 for me, so my biggest worries were school related and looking back they seem pretty small.
