The Gazette reports that a 48-year-old indigent woman was found dead this weekend in the doorway of a Billings business, according to a Billings Police Department press release. The BPD received a call regarding an unresponsive woman lying in the doorway in the 2800 block of First Avenue North at about 7:40 a.m on Saturday.

Detectives determined there was nothing indicative of foul play at the scene and suggested that the female had been drinking with other transients throughout the night, according to a press release by Sgt. Harley Cagle.

Businesses along the 2800 block of First Avenue North include Western Security Bank, 406 Glass and the Monte Bar and Casino, although none were specifically implicated in the case.

Contributing factors appear to be alcohol and cold weather. The woman’s death remains under investigation, according to the release.
