An "awesome store for awesome people" is now open in Downtown Billings. Today, I stopped by to check it out and chat with the owners a little bit. Altered Ego Lifestyle Store is next door to The Monte, occupying the space that was formerly 406 Glass at 2816 1st Ave North.

Altered Ego Lifestyle Store was founded by longtime friends and bandmates, Matt Ricigliano and Rusty Steele. The guys graciously let me pester them with questions and take pictures.

The store is filled with unique items for those who enjoy music, skating, and living life. The shop is bright, inviting, and comfortable.

Lots of records.

Vinyl is experiencing a revival. My 14-year-old kid started collecting records after she requested a record player for Christmas. This shop has some great titles. I wanted to buy the Biggie album seen above.

They're on the Light Bike Trail

A cool mural and one of Billings' Light Bikes are seen on the east side of the shop's building.

The guys said they want the store to be a comfortable spot, not just for shopping, but to hang out with friends for a bit. Guests could play games, cards, or just sit and visit at the table.

A large selection of skateboard decks, wheels, and trucks.

When I was a kid, I wanted a skateboard. My parents said no, because A) we lived in the country with a gravel driveway, a gravel road, with no sidewalks for miles, and B) they said I would break my leg. They were probably right about the "breaking my leg" part.

Altered Ego is planning a Grand Opening event in June. Follow their Facebook or Instagram pages for upcoming details.
