Today is National Hot Dog Day, so I looked some things up.

The ingredients apparently do NOT contain animal hooves, lips, or tails as my mother told me when I was young.

A "Three Way" from Skyline Chili in Cincinnati is about as close to being "the perfect hot dog" as I've ever had. Ole's Country Stores in Missoula had a great deal while I went to school there. Three hot dogs covered by as much chili as the little hot dog boat could hold for one dollar. Of course, that was 35 years ago.

Why we sell 10 hot dogs in a pack, and 8 buns in a package, is one of life's great mysteries.

"Hot Dog" by Buck Owens was always kinda catchy.

While "Hot Dog...The Movie" wasn't great, but still makes me smile.

I can't tell you the difference between a hot dog, from a brat, from a sausage, from a wienerschnitzel.
