I just read this funny statistic that about 1 out of 10 parents regret the name they gave their child.  I find that odd, as you have months and months to carefully ponder and pick the name you want.  How can you goof that up?

So it got me to thinking...what ever happened to those "classic" names?  You know, names that your great grandfather, or grandmother had?  I had a lot of those on my mom's side.  Grandpa Royal.  Aunt Iris.  An Uncle Percy.

I was always glad that I was from a different generation and that I didn't get stuck with one of those names.  Here are some others...

  • Ira
  • Virgina
  • Sheldon
  • Petunia
  • Mortimer
  • Calvin
  • Buford
  • Willfred
  • Ariel
  • Leroy
  • Irving

However, with some of the "new" names out there, I don't know which is worse!  Seems everyone now is dropping a letter or two from an existing name, to make up a something original.

What about you?  Do you have any "odd" names that you can share?  Comment below...I would love to hear from you.
