This is from a Softball mom's perspective. I had an eye opening conversation with someone today about sports and I was taken back and amazed that there are still a fairly good number of people that don't think Fast-pitch Softball is a viable sport.

My daughter's Bailey plays fast-pitch and has for the last 5 years.

The time and effort that these girls put into their sport is amazing, just like boys do for baseball, wrestling or football.

Softball like any other sport takes dedication, strength and skill.

Many a young lady has gone onto College on a softball scholarship and went on to play in the Olympics.

These young ladies have been practicing since last fall (indoors/outdoors) and it showed this weekend as they played their first tournament in Cody, Wyoming.

Not only did this 14U team win their own age group, they took home the trophy for the entire tournament (undefeated) including 16U.

I  couldn't be more proud of these girls for their commitment and ability.

And I couldn't be more proud of the coaches that have molded these 11 young ladies into a strong self confident team.

Not only have they learned a higher level of competition, they are building friendships that will last a lifetime.

My advice it to encourage your children (boys and girls) to play what ever sport they want.  Just because someone may not think that what they choose is a "real" sport, is not important, what you child thinks is all that counts.
