The morning after the big Turning Point USA event at Montana State University, we were broadcasting LIVE from the Rockin' R in downtown Bozeman.

We played highlights from the event the night before featuring Gov. Greg Gianforte (R-MT) and 2024 Presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. I was chatting with State Rep. Braxton Mitchell (R-Columbia Falls), a 25 year old lawmaker who used to be a TPUSA ambassador, along with Finley Warden- a young man just about to turn 20 years old.

They both agreed that this was one of the best speeches ever delivered by Gov. Gianforte. So did State Rep. Shannon Maness (R-Dillon) who I spoke with later in the week.

This is where you really got to see the personal side of the governor, and his longstanding, close relationship with Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk.

In an interview with the governor backstage before the event, he told me about when he first got to know Charlie Kirk- who was supposed to be at this very event at MSU earlier this week before an assassin took his life.

Gov. Gianforte: "Well, I still remember it. It was at the commons here in Bozeman. He was speaking. He was 18 years old. This is 13 years ago, and I was impressed. And I said to Susan, this guy has it going on. We need to help him, and we wrote him a- gave some financial support. And many years later, he's been here, he loved Montana. He loved coming here. He's been to our home many times. He told me that that check we gave him that night was only the second check he ever received for Turning Point USA. Proud to have supported him through all these years. And I just think, as I mentioned to you earlier, God works good through all things for those that love him and are called according to His purposes. Even tragic, evil things like an assassination, it's not right. Two little children lost their father. Erica lost a husband. Turning Point lost a CEO and a visionary. But we've seen over 100,000 Turning Point Chapter applications, and we see revival happening in this country. And- God's working good through this."

Here's the audio of my chat with the Governor and Vivek Ramaswamy backstage. You can also watch the full speech and some highlights below.
