What a beautiful Mother's Day this year.  I decided to take advantage of the weather and do some planting in a little spot by my front door.  A few species of tomatoes (Cherokee Purple, Green Zebras, Roma and Big Beefs), some bell peppers, basil, oregano, and marigolds.

The thing is, I know that I most likely will never take a bite of any of that food.  The suburban deer that live in my neighborhood (not just passing through...they live here) will no doubt feast upon it long before I get the chance.  I decided I would give it one more shot.  If it makes it a couple of weeks, I'll mulch and cage the tomatoes, then put up some chicken wire around the whole thing.  It would be nice to actually eat something I've grown rather than just set up the deer version of Golden Corral in my yard.
