There is a petition on change.org asking President Trump to change the date of Halloween from October 31st to the last Saturday of October.  There are definitely some sensible reasons to do this; however, many Americans are a big fan of tradition and resist making big changes to them.

We're only a couple of days away from Halloween and as a parent, I'm dealing with most of the problems cited by the petition.  Mainly, it's a work day and a school night.  Most parents that actually take their kids Trick-Or-Treating do so after 5p and in order to get the kids home at a reasonable hour, you end up cramming all of your festivities into a two hour window. It's definitely more fun when Halloween happens to fall on a Saturday, but since October 31st happens to be my birthday, I think I'm going to be in the crowd that doesn't want to screw with the current designation.

FYI: The next time October 31st falls on a Saturday is 2020.
