Big Bear Sports Center Official Statement Regarding Events of November 4th 2017
November 7, 2017
Billings, MT – The tragedy that took place this past Saturday in Big Bear Sports Center not only affects our store, but our entire community. As a fixture in Billings for over 50 years, we’ve had the opportunity to see many changes. The one thing that hasn’t changed is the incredible way Montanans support each other.
We have an abundance of appreciation for our City and the exceptionally professional way they handled this crisis for all involved.
We’d like to emphatically thank the Billings Police Department, the Yellowstone County Sherriff’s Department, the Bomb Squad, the SWAT Team, the ATF, the Crime Scene Investigators, the City of Billings and the other Specialty Teams that handled the situation as it unfolded in our store. Their dedication to the safety of the people in our community as well as the officers involved was truly remarkable. The respectful communication with the media as well as their continued communication with the company management was outstanding and extremely appreciated.
We also owe the citizens of Billings and the surrounding communities a personal thank you. From our management, our employees and everyone that was affected by Saturday’s events, thank you. The outpouring of support has been incredible and we are grateful to call Billings home and the people that live here our neighbors. Your messages, comments, well wishes and thoughts have helped get us through the long days.
We have a considerable amount of work ahead of us in the coming weeks and are currently assessing the damage to the interior and exterior of the store. We are unsure as to when we’ll be able to re-open for business but we are excited to begin the journey. With the help of our amazing employees, the support of our community and a little elbow grease, we’ll be back to business soon!
