Today is National Nap At Work Day and the reason why should be fairly obvious.  Daylight Saving Time doesn't mess everybody up, but for those of us who already have issues with sleep, it's reportedly much worse.

There has been one time when I fell asleep at work and it did coincide with Daylight Saving Time.  I was working at a radio station in Knoxville, Tennessee and had to be at work 5 a.m. Sunday mornings.  These days, the computer handles playing the songs, but that wasn't the case back then.  If the deejay wasn't paying attention, the song came to a stop and silence ensued until he or she put something else on.  This particular station was a "Soft Rock" format and at the time featured such core artists as Michael Bolton and Kenny G.  Apparently, it was just too much for me.  I was there on time, doing my thing when suddenly...I opened my eyes and heard silence coming through the station monitors.  I looked at my cd players, then the clock on the control board and realized I had been asleep for somewhere around 30 minutes.  30 minutes of nothingness on one of the city's big stations.

The following week I waited for the call telling me I was dismissed, but it never came.  I suppose there weren't a lot of complainers up at that hour willing to take the time to call during regular business hours to rat me out.

I know I'm not the only one who's nodded off at work.  If you've got a story, share it in the comments.
