Great Time at the Mustangs Game
The first game is in the books. I had a better than expected time last night at my first ever Billings Mustangs game.
If you are looking for a fun, affordable event for the family –consider a Mustangs game! Even if you are not a huge fan of baseball, I am pretty sure you will still enjoy yourself at a game.
Just watching the kids running around the park, baseball gloves in hand and giant smiles on their faces is pure enjoyment. My wife and I surmised that every one of those kids that had a glove on fully expected to catch a foul ball. But from what I saw, you would have to be out on the street to catch the majority of the foul balls hit at Dehler Park!
The game itself was fun to watch. There is such energy with players at this level. All of them trying to make some type of mark to get noticed by the parent club, the Cincinnati Reds. Which was the case with first round pick Phil Ervin.
In the 3rd inning, Ervin showed his defensive skills with a laser shot to home plate to throw out a Grand Junction runner. Unfortunately, Ervin became the goat of the game in the 8th inning when he lost a ball in the lights, dove to make the catch and missed. Two runs scored to put the Rockies junior club ahead to stay.
The Mustangs are at home for six more games and the weather is forecasted to be perfect to take in an evening game. I know I will.
