I've always loved horsepower and going fast. My dad drove fast everywhere he went and taught me to do the same.

So, when I was young, I had planned on being a race car driver. Of course, I had no idea what was involved. You need at least a little mechanical ability. And Money. And lot's of it.

I called Gary Stoppel, a guy who is a heck of a mechanic and has his own race car and asked him what it would cost to build a race car. He asked me, "Do you want to be in front, or do you want to be in back?" Thanks, Gary. You just saved me a bunch of money.

If you have a need for speed, you should make it a point to at least try to get behind the wheel of something really fast. There are even places where you can rent Ferraris or Lamborghinis and fly around a track. That's money well spent.

This photo is the driver's view of my current race car. 17 horsepower AND a cup holder. Vroom.
