Small Town Fun, Big Time Vibes: Livin’ Large in Lavina is This Saturday
While bigger Montana cities like Billings, Bozeman, and Missoula seem to have some event every weekend, please don't overlook the fun happening in our small towns. In my opinion, these "tiny town" parties are usually more fun.
Lavina, about 45 miles north of Billings on Highway 3, is throwing its annual full-day celebration this Saturday, June 21st, called Livin’ Large in Lavina—and it’s shaping up to be a great time.
The fun starts bright and early with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lavina Volunteer Fire Department. Swing by the fire hall behind the old Adams Hotel between 7 and 10 AM and load up on flapjacks for a good cause.

After breakfast, tour some of Lavina’s historic buildings.
The Adams Hotel is a must-see, with period furnishings, turn-of-the-century charm, and maybe even a ghost story or two. Other local landmarks, including (hopefully) the long-shuttered Bank of Lavina, will be open from 9 to 3 for self-guided exploring.
From 10 AM to 4 PM, check out over 60 vendors at the Marketplace in the Park. It’s a great spot to find unique, locally made items—perfect for early holiday shopping or just treating yourself to something Montana-made.
Eat, shop, and kick up your heels in Lavina.
Food vendors will be on hand all day, and starting at 3 PM, you can swing by the school for appetizers, followed by a steak dinner at 5. Kid-friendly fun is on deck too, with 4-H and Lavina School Association fundraisers from 11 to 2.
Wrap up the day dancing in the street with live music from The Cimarron Band from 6 to 10 PM. Bonus: this year’s event also includes Lavina’s 2025 All-Class & Community Reunion—so if you’ve got ties to this charming little town, don’t miss it. It’s a full day of food, fun, and hometown pride. See you in Lavina this weekend.
