Now This Is A Thing… Cappuccino Flavored Potato Chips
There are many flavors of potato chips that you can find in Canada (where I grew up) that are super tasty that are difficult to find here in Billings. For instance, ketchup potato chips. That might sound a bit odd but when you consider that potato chips are fried slices of potato then there's not much difference between that and fries with ketchup. I could eat a huge bag in about 20 minutes... no problem. Pickle flavored chips are tasty too but again, nearly impossible to find in the magic city.
Looking for something other than BBQ, Ranch or Salt & Vinegar? Then Lays has come to the rescue with their new line of cappuccino flavored potato chips. The bag you see on the picture was actually in an end cap at WalMart in the Heights. Now you'd think these would get buried on the bottom shelf so they can get the retail junk food funeral they so richly deserve... but no, they are proudly displayed on the end cap... a piece of retail real estate that Lays has to actually pay for. As if they expect the putrid sounding marriage of potato and coffee bean to be a hit.
You know someone at Lays at least midway up the food chain has put their butt on the line betting their career on the idea that they could class up America's favorite redneck snack by combining it with the snooty appeal of your local independent coffee shop.
Hopefully this will lead to the cool, mealy, refreshing taste of a potato frappucino. God please let this happen!
