Shoplifting Just Keeps Getting Tougher
In a world full of cameras and alarms I imagine it's tough being a shoplifter. I was in Albertsons today and was told by the checkout lady that I would need to back up and let her login to her register, then bring the cart forward again. Apparently, it needs to be acknowledged that the cart has passed through the check out line or the LoJack style system will sound the alarms and lock one of the wheels.
I'm not sure what they spent on this new anti-theft technology, but the lady told me that they had people who would load up a $500 cart and head out the door.
If you should happen to see someone trying to run with a cart that only goes in counterclockwise circles, you'll know what they've been up to.
