When A Crisis Hits Your Life Changes Forever
When an accident happens or you are not feeling well and you need to see a Doctor, other than your usual Doctor, many times you get the luck of the draw, who is on call or duty that night. Being lucky enough to get the right Doctor is a blessing. By right Doctor I mean, the Doctor who connects with you and your family and that you can just see in their eyes that they understand your fear and pain.
With out going into all of the horrifying details, I will tell you that my son Triston had a very devastating and life changing accident a few weeks ago.
In an instant we found ourselves in the Emergency room at St. Vincent Hospital scared and feeling lost, not knowing what would happen.
How bad was the damage? Was there anything else wrong, something that we couldn't see?
I will tell you from a mother's perspective, I was feeling overwhelming fear and hurt for the pain my son was in, and if it weren't for Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon Dr. Brian Drake and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital, I don't know what we would have done.
I truly believe that because of the tender loving care and expert health care that my son got, it has made a world of difference for my son and us,his family and has helped him on the road to recovery.
With out them I don't think we would have been able to cope with the situation and come out of it as physically and mentally healthy as we have.
Sometimes when we go to the Doctor, we tend to be annoyed that we have to wait to get into see them, or when we get the bill we are angry at how much it costs.
I will tell you that from the moment I walked into that emergency room and was met by the admittance person to the awesome nurses in the room and the EMT that brought him in, to the 3 days he was in the hospital and so far through his recovery care, I am indebted to Dr. Drake and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital.
I'm not saying you don't have a right to have your own opinion of our health care system, I'm just telling you my eyes have been opened and I give them thanks and appreciate what they do.
They're better people than I am, I couldn't do what they do.
