I'm sure P.E.T.A. has never been a fan of Popeye's since they're not big on people eating tasty animals, but now they have another reason to be mad: Popeye's Emotional Support Chicken.

There is quite a debate going on about these emotional support animals and the airlines are trying to sort things out without getting their usual horrible PR.  Popeye's decided to capitalize on this by offering a meal at some of their airport locations which comes in a chicken shaped box.  This way, you can not only get a tasty meal, but you'll also have the emotional support of your cardboard chicken.  I think it's funny, topical marketing, but PETA has a different view.  Their response on Twitter was this

is selling boxes of dead “emotional support chickens” for the holidays, proving they’re not above mocking mental illness AND animals who died gruesome deaths.

What do you think?  Funny or not in good taste?
