In a world where some folks can’t be bothered to return their shopping carts, and in a time when we'll spend hours arguing with folks on social media about politics (or anything), three Billings girls are out here running circles around us in the community service department.

Meet Girls 4 Community, a trio of junior philanthropists who just snagged the inaugural Community Service Award from Family Service at their annual gala, The Benefit.

An inspiration to many.

The young squad started last year, when then-7-year-old Avery Nelson donated $15 to Family Service. Instead of moving on to Roblox, she doubled down and recruited sisters Ireland (8) and Lennox Carley (10).

Suddenly, they had a board of directors. Yes, they’ve given themselves the titles of CEO, CFO, and COO - how cute is that?  And these young ladies are on a mission: make Billings a little better, one act of kindness at a time.

Since then, these girls have gone full throttle.

They've donated hundreds of books, and they conducted a food drive that collected more than a thousand pounds of groceries for Family Service’s Thanksgiving program. They've spent countless hours gathering coats and blankets, raising funds for school supplies and diapers, writing letters to seniors, pitching in at Special Olympics, and even picking up trash around town.

Family Service Development Director Kelsey Stark says, “Young volunteers are not easy to come by… I hope these girls spark inspiration in more young people and adults to go out and support their neighbors in need.”

Lennox summed it up best: “Once you help the world, your life will change forever.” I absolutely love her quote. Meanwhile, The Benefit raised a hefty $224,000, proving generosity isn’t just child’s play. Learn more about the awesome resources Family Service provides our community HERE.
