Since Maddy Wolcott was in the third grade, she's been fundraising for a group that is close to her heart. Our veterans.

Now in the fifth grade at Sandstone Elementary, Maddy has currently raised over $4,000 for area veteran non-profit organizations. To raise the money, she goes class to class and convinces her fellow students to do chores for money that will be donated.

Over the past few years, Heroes and Horses, Big Sky Bravery, and Fit Ops have benefited from Maddy's fundraising.

For her outstanding leadership, and huge heart for veterans, we're honored to announce 10-year old Maddy Wolcott as this weeks Johnny V's Junior Genius.

When asked why she started collecting money for veterans, Maddy said "We have an obligation to take care of them when they come home." Maddy also said she "thinks it's important because my dad was a veteran and they risk their lives to go overseas."

Maddy's father Matt served for 8 years in the United States Marine Corps and is "extremely proud" of his daughter for "understanding the importance of recognizing and supporting our veteran community."

Maddy is the youngest daughter of Matt and Jennifer Wolcott. Their two other children Morgan and Grace attend Skyview High School.
