Montana: Help Reunite This Veterans Photo to the Family
A Billings woman is requesting your help identifying the picture she found of a decorated servicemember, in hopes of returning the photo to the man or his family. Fay Danielsen shared the picture and what she knew about the photo on a Billings community Facebook page on May 8th. Currently, the identity of the man remains a mystery.
Danielsen said she found the photo tucked inside the pages of a cookbook she purchased at an estate sale in Billings several years ago. It's an 8X10 color print, depicting a white male wearing his dress uniform.

The photo is from the Vietnam era.
A Marine helped provide clues on the post regarding the medals and uniform. Gabriel H. said that "dress whites" became unauthorized in 2000. He says that the gentleman in the picture is a Marine Captain and wished the poster good luck in finding the family, adding that it is a "bad ass bit of history. Semper Fi!"

Here's a close-up of the medals.
Danielson has identified the medals (R-L) as the RVN Vietnam Campaign medal, the Vietnam service medal, a National Defense medal, a Marine Corps Good Conduct medal, a Purple Heart with 2 devices, a Navy-Marine Corps Commendation medal with valor, and a Silver Star.
Do you know who the man is?
I think it's honorable that the woman who discovered the photo would like to see it returned to the family of whoever stuck it inside a cookbook, however many years ago (possibly decades).
If you know who the decorated Vietnam vet is in this article, please reach out to Fay Danielsen on Facebook HERE. If he's still living, he's likely in his late 70s to mid-80s.
