Now This Sounds Fun… Nye Goes Nuts Day Is June 12
July in Montana is packed full of fun events. Highlights in Billings this weekend include the 34th annual Strawberry Festival, and Montana Brews and BBQs "around the lake" at MetraPark. Both are a lot of fun, and thousands will attend.

If you're looking for something a little less congested, how about a quick road trip to Nye on Saturday for "Nye Goes Nuts"? Like 90% of Billings residents, we love daytripping to our favorite mountainside retreats, and Nye, Fishtail, and Absarokee are at the top of our list. A fun day of Nye Goes Nuts sounds like a blast to us.

Located about 90 minutes from Billings, Nye is a charming little community nestled along the Absarokee-Beartooth Range and Custer National Forest. Named after miner Jack Nye, who found gold and copper in the area, this gorgeous area is best seen this time of year, IMO, when the foothills are vibrant green and there's still a cap of snow on the mountaintops.

Nye Goes Nuts Day is filled with activities.
- The Nye Community Foundation fundraiser starts at 4 pm on Saturday, July 12th, at the Nye Volunteer Fire Hall on 419 in Nye. Enjoy BBQ brisket, hamburgers, hot dogs, and refreshments.
- Music by the country western Crow Country Band.
- Kids and Adult events, including horseback riding, a Cornhole tourney, Silent Auction and Yellowstone Antique Tourcar rides.
- The One and Only Chicken Chase. We don't know what this is, but we are very much intrigued.
- A 2025 Lewistown Polaris ATV raffle, and more.
Our ideal itinerary might include starting the day with brunch in Red Lodge, then cruising over to Nye for the festivities. Or, perhaps we'll head down through Columbus and the Stillwater Valley. Either drive is quite scenic. Or, maybe we'll just make the loop and enjoy it all.
