Meet Sugar, Billings’ Featured Adoptable Dog of the Week
Some dogs are wound up, some dogs are chill. Our featured Wet Nose Wednesday pet this week lands in the chill category. Meet Sugar, an eight-year-old Australian Shepard mix, who is ready for her forever home.
Sugar arrived with a similar-looking dog as a stray, said Derek Wulf, Humane Outreach Coordinator at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter. Sugar has been at the shelter for almost a month, and we'd love to see her get adopted soon.

She has a beautiful blue merle coat with a unique "patch" around her eye. Paul Mushaben of the Breakfast Flakes noted she doesn't seem to shed much, which is always a plus on long-haired dogs.
Older dogs can be the best companions, and Sugar qualifies for the shelter's Seniors Adopting Seniors Program. This is for dogs or cats that are 8 years of age or older, who are adopted into homes with senior citizens who are 65 years of age or older.

Check out the Seniors for Seniors program at YVAS.
Senior adopters will receive an age-based discount on adoption fees when adopting a senior animal. For example, if someone 65 years old decides to adopt an animal, that person would receive 65% off the adoption fee of a senior animal.
Another benefit of adopting a senior dog is that they typically require a lot less exercise. Sugar might enjoy a stroll through the neighborhood now and then, but she'll be just as happy cuddling on a couch or cozy dog bed.
