Since the beginning of May, this is the seventh robbery or attempted robbery reported in the city by the Billings Police Department, according to the @BillingsPD Twitter page.
Billings Police are looking for a man who apparently tried to carjack a vehicle in a neighborhood just south of Daylis Stadium late on Thursday night (5/19).
What a huge election day yesterday. The safety levy in Billings was a strong message that the national effort to abolish police departments will not be tolerated. Even though it will cost Billings homeowners an extra $100 for a two hundred thousand dollar home they overwhelmingly back the blue.
I saw the post this week of a Billings Police officer holding his service dog as he faded away after a battle with cancer. The dog was loving, devoted, and loyal to the very end. It broke my heart because dogs give you their unconditional love no matter what.
According to the post from BPD Sgt. Gunther, the suspect vehicle "fired shots at a car" before fleeing the scene, but reported that no one was injured during the incident.
At this point I have no idea how this situation was identified, but I'm grateful to whomever made the call. This may never have been a real threat, or we could have been added to the list of cities where tragedy struck. I for one am glad we didn't take chances.
