Many Montana youth enjoy hunting, fishing, and shooting sports, and the 13th Annual Big Sky Youth Event brings those passions together at Blue Creek Shooting Complex near Billings on Saturday, August 2.

This event is geared for kids ages 6-18, and responsible younger children may participate too with parent/guardian consent. The Big Sky Youth event is a great opportunity to introduce your kids to shooting sports and outdoor recreation in a safe, controlled environment.

Just a few of the many activities during the Big Sky Youth Event at Blue Creek Shooting Complex include:

  • Target Shooting

  • Hunting & Safety

The entire event is free.  Attendees will enjoy a free lunch, door prizes, and a free goodie bag for all youth participants.

No preregistration is necessary.

Parents and kids can register on-site at 8:30 AM, and Event Stations will open at 9 AM. Kids will need to have their parent/guardian fill out a consent form before they can participate. Shotguns, BB guns, bows, ammo, ear protection, and eye protection will be provided.

Opinion: This event is great for parents who might not be passionate about firearms, but have kids interested in the sport. The day provides a safe environment for young shooters of all abilities, and it might lead them into an enjoyable, lifelong hobby.
