A Walk Down Memory Lane
For most of this last month, my family and I have been dealing with a great loss with the passing of our mother. Though the grief is great, the time I have gotten to spend with my family has been amazing and very healing. Although it's emotional when someone passes, you have to go through their things and decide what you should keep and what you should divide among the family members or donate.
As we were going through one of my mom's many boxes of memories, we can across these little gems. When I was in grade school I went to a country school (The Davey School) and each year we had a field day, where we would compete against some of the other small country schools in different events. I think I was in 4th grade, and apparently, I was a pretty good softball thrower (though most of my coaches later in life didn't always see the raw talent) and I was also pretty good at the high jump (who knew).
It was so fun to see all of the memorabilia that my mom kept from our childhood. I now have these ribbons in my memory box, and when I look at them, it makes me smile.
What sort of memorabilia did your parents keep and what have you kept from your childhood, or from your children's childhood if they're grown?
