Welcome to National "I Am In Control" Day!

This day was founded on March 30, 1981 when a gunman attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan. He had one bullet lodged in his lung when Secretary of State Alexander Haig made a statement. “As of now, I am in control here in the White House.”

The media actually took those words wrong though. What Haig meant was he was in charge until Vice President George Bush could be sworn in.

This day has changed dramatically since 1981.

Today, it stands more for being in control of your own life such as getting rid of the out of control feeling.

Here are some ways that you can celebrate I Am In Control Day right here in Billings:

  • Start using a daily planner
  • Declutter
  • Make lists
  • Tackle one project at a time
  • Learn organizational skills
  • Ask for help
  • Talk with someone
  • Feel confident with your decisions

Regardless how it got started, today is a day for you to be in control of everything that is you. Take advantage of it.
