New Three-Year Calendar Set for Billings Public Schools
Billings Public Schools has officially locked in its next three academic calendars, following a 7–1 vote by the Board of Trustees at their October 20 meeting.
The District Calendar Committee, made up of teachers, parents, administrators, and board members, began shaping the plan last spring through a series of public meetings aimed at keeping the process open and community-driven.

The newly approved calendars aim for consistency while honoring local priorities. Each school year will continue to start near Labor Day, a decision meant to respect Indigenous events like Crow Fair and avoid the worst of early fall heat (especially since two high schools still lack air conditioning).
Start and end times will remain unchanged to meet accreditation requirements, and families can again count on a full week of spring break and graduation ceremonies around Memorial Day weekend.

District officials say the calendars reflect strong community input and will help families plan while maintaining momentum in student achievement, which has seen impressive gains over the past two years.
Reading proficiency is up 10%, math proficiency 9%, and dual credit enrollment has jumped 30%. Advanced Placement participation rose more than 50%, and high school dropout rates have dropped by over 13%.
The approved calendars and additional information are now available on the Billings Public Schools website.
