Thanksgiving is almost here and if you're like my family you are planning a big get together with all of your favorite foods.  Some traditional and some new recipes that you want to try.

On our dinner table will be traditional roast turkey as well as smoked turkey and ham.

Homemade stuffing or dressing as I've always called it and mashed potatoes and both cream of mushroom and turkey gravy.

Black olives (these are a must - because even as an adult you still thinks it cool to put them on our fingers)

Yams, cranberries and salad.

Desert will include at least a pumpkin pie or two, banana cream pie and my sister Angie's cookie salad.

The cookie salad is something that my sister Angie and my daughter Bailey always made together for Thanksgiving.

Since Angie passed a couple of years ago, Bailey has carried on the tradition of making the cookie salad for family gatherings.

Here is the recipe, give it a try and hopefully it will become a must on your holiday table too.

Cookie Salad ~ Bailey McCrummen

1 - 3 ounce package of Instant Vanilla Pudding
8 ounces of Buttermilk

(mix together)

Add 8 ounces of Cool Whip
15 ounce can of Pineapple chunked (drained)
1 small or medium sized can of Mandarin Oranges (drained)
1 package of fudge stripped cookies (broken up)

*I suggest putting the mandarin oranges and cookies in just before serving (that way the oranges and cookies don't get soggy)

*I also use about a 1/4 of the cookies as garnishment on the top of the salad before serving

I hope that no matter what your are serving for Thanksgiving you all have a great day and blessed day from our family to ours.
