September Is Perfect To Run Or Walk In Billings
Optimal conditions for running a marathon have temperatures in the lower 50's, according to a report in Shape.com. To be exact, 51.8 degrees for a 26.2 mile run.
With morning temperatures in September averaging in the upper 40's to low 50's, it's no surprise Billings will be a hot spot (or perfectly cool spot) for professional and amateur runners in the upcoming weeks.

Unite For The Night Glow Run (Saturday, September 14)
Pioneer Park will host a 5K and 2-mile Night Run / Walk with pre-race activities beginning at 6pm. Wear your best glow-in-the-dark gear with prizes given away for creative costumes. Out Of The Darkness Walk (Sunday, September 15)
Raising awareness and funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, this 3-mile walk will be held at Veterans Park in Billings. Check in begins at 12:45pm, walk starts at 2:10pm. The Montana Marathon (Sunday, September 15)
A Marathon, Half-Marathon, 10K, Relay, and One-Mile Kids Run will be held on Sunday (9/15). The 39th Montana Marathon, a Boston qualifier race, starts in Molt and hits a high elevation of 4200 feet along the course route. This USATF certified course travels from the open prairie to Montana's urban center, Billings. While the first ten miles feature some rolling hills, the final 16 treat you to a loss of 1,000 vertical feet. -Montana Marathon
Laps4Life (Saturday, September 21)
Teams, bands, and clubs from three Billings' High Schools will host a 15-Minute Fun Run / Walk around the Daylis Stadium track on Saturday (9/21) to raise awareness and funds for homeless high school students in School District 2. Rock The Run (Sunday, September 29)
This 5K Fun Run / Walk at Pompeys Pillar National Monument will honor all military, veterans, and first responders with a portion of entry fee proceeds going to Veterans Meat Locker.
