Montana Cowboy Movie Now Casting: Film Set In The Bitterroot Valley
Dream of being a Montana movie star?
Here's an opportunity for actors - seasoned or otherwise - to land a role on the big screen. The short film Montana Lucky is now casting for a variety of interesting roles. The movie is scheduled to shoot September 2 - 5 in the Bitterroot Valley.
A recent post on Reddit shared Montana Film Office details about the movie, which is set in 1970s Montana. The general plotline is about a "roguish but out-of-place cowboy" who struggles to choose between being the hero or the outlaw.

The film is casting for several paid and unpaid characters, including the lead role:
- Lucky (paid, male, 30-45): a townie and ranch hand who drifts from scheme to scheme, frequently landing him in jail. Good-hearted and humorous, a veritable rascal, he wants to be an old-school outlaw but can’t always overcome his conscience. He may have finally found a heist that will make him a legend.
- Sheriff Crowley (paid, male, 55-65): a hard-nosed and driven old lawman who doggedly pursues Lucky. Driven by duty and a sense of justice, he also has real affection and hope that Lucky can get on the straight and narrow.
- Maud (female, 40-60): a secretary for the county sheriff’s office. She’s seen all kinds of characters come through her jail, and she’s not amused or threatened by any of their antics. She’s tough, terse, and all business, all the time.
- Professor Jack (male, 45-65): a former psychology professor from the university who defected and led his little flock of new age, hippie religionists to start a commune in the valley. He’s physically imposing and speaks softly and gently, but he’s willing to do anything to ensure the survival of his movement.
- Roulette (male, 50-65): a kind and patient old cowboy who gave Lucky work on his ranch before he leased it to the hippies. He’s old, physically broke, partially blind, and ready to slow down, but he wants to help Lucky straighten himself out.
- Tanya (female, 20-40): a tough, no-nonsense bartender and cowgirl, used to dealing with rowdy cowboys.
- Maggie (female, 20-30): a loyal, loving, and religious small-town girl who just found out Lucky lied to her about being properly married.
- Hippie Girl (female, 20-40): a sweet and enthusiastic follower of Professor Jack and a proud member of the commune.
Should you land a role, food and gas are paid for, with hourly wages available for speaking roles. The movie is SAG exempt and the recipient of the Big Sky Film Grant.
