Is A Sales Tax A Bad Thing For Montana?

With out opening a huge ugly political debate, is a sales tax a bad idea for Montana?Here's why I ask.

With the fight right now for the Congressional seat up for grabs, I keep hearing how this guy is for a sales tax and that's not what we Montanan's want and the other guy is saying he's for a fair tax for everyone.

What is a fair tax?

I know Montana voted down a sales tax in the past, I think the last time it was voted down was in 1993.

I will throw this out there, if we had a set sales tax and no Montana State tax or property tax, would we keep more money in our pockets?

If I buy it, I pay a tax, if I don't then I keep it.

Is that so bad?
