Will This Fast-Growing Burger Chain Come to Billings Next?
People in the Magic City frequently mention how much they would love to have a _________ in Billings. Typical answers for the fill-in-the-blank are an In-N-Out Burger, Whataburger, Culver's, a Trader Joe's, and the far-fetched dream of a Dave & Buster's.
One popular fast-food franchise is edging closer to Montana's biggest city: Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers. Last week, the company opened its first location in western South Dakota at 916 Eglin St. in Rapid City. We're wondering if a Billings location might be next.

States surrounding Montana have several Freddy's.
There is currently one Freddy's in Montana, in Missoula. It opened in 2016. There are several in Wyoming and Idaho, one in North Dakota, and two in Sioux Falls, SD. The company has around 400 US locations (they're quite popular in the Midwest and South), and they appear to be in an expansion mode.

What makes Freddy's different?
I have not been to a Freddy's, but according to their website, the company's specialty is their 100% lean ground beef smash patties made with "Freddy's Famous Steakburger and Fry Seasoning®️".
Browsing through Freddy's menu, much of it appears to be standard fast food fare (steakburgers, beef hot dogs, chicken sandwiches and strips, etc). Where Freddy's appears to shine is its extensive dessert menu, highlighted by their signature frozen custard.
A relative newcomer to the fast food burger chain industry, Freddy's was founded in Kansas in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon and a business partner. The company is named after the boys' grandfather, Freddy Simon, a World War II Purple Heart recipient.
Would Billings support a Freddy's?
With several amazing local restaurants and food trucks serving awesome burgers in Billings, it may seem like our market is getting saturated with burger options. On the other hand, people in Billings seem to love their franchise food, and tourists may opt for a recognizable, nationwide franchise over a local place if they're passing through.
