My Early Days in Radio

We got the news this morning that Bob Kingsley has passed. He was 80 and had pancreatic cancer.

Back when I started, we had to work a weekend shift and that meant that you hit the buttons to start every record individually. Started every religious program if you drew the Sunday morning shift. But, if you were lucky, you drew Saturday.

Working Saturday morning meant two things. First, you had your weekend shift done with plenty of weekend left. AND you got to play American Country Countdown.

I don't miss working weekends, but I'll always remember the count downs.
