Loki Looking for His Forever Home in Billings
95% of the time, when Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter brings us an adoptable pet to feature on Wet Nose Wednesday, it's a dog. This week, we were pleasantly surprised to see a kitty in tow when we heard the front desk doorbell.

Meet Loki.
Loki is a six-year-old domestic short-haired brown tabby cat, and this cool character is quite the charmer. Derek Wulf, Human Outreach Coordinator at YVAS, said Loki actually seemed to enjoy the car ride to our studios, which is not something you could say about most cats, haha.

Loki was surrendered to the shelter because of conflicts with a dog in his former household. So, whoever adopts this kitty should probably not have dogs. He does get along well with other cats, said Wulf, and he clearly enjoys human company.
He's a large-ish cat, but carries his 15 pounds well.
Loki doesn't appear fat; he's simply a big kitty. He warmed up quickly to our unfamiliar space, exploring every nook and cranny in our studio this morning. He's affectionate, curious, and seems pretty chill.
Missing a pet? Check the shelter first.
This seems like common sense, but you might be surprised. Derek said YVAS currently has several strays that appear to be well-cared for. Why they haven't been claimed is anybody's guess.
Per the shelter's hold policy, all strays are held for 72 hours, giving owners and shelter employees a chance to reunite the pets with their owners. However, many strays that arrive at YVAS do not have microchips, and/or the information is outdated. A great reminder to chip your pets AND update info if you move or get a new phone number.
After the 72-hour hold, stray pets become the property of the Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter, are spayed/neutered, receive medical exams, and become available for adoption. Browse all of the pets currently available for adoption at Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter HERE.
